David Leung, MD, MS is a gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist at Bhatti GI, specializing in the endoscopic management of obesity. He received his bachelor's degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a Master's in Healthcare Management from Clarkson University, followed by his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, California, where he was named Chief Fellow in his final year. He went on to complete an additional fellowship in Advanced/Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, with a focused emphasis on Bariatric Endoscopy. Prior to joining Bhatti GI, he practiced at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At Bhatti GI, Dr. Leung is helping build a comprehensive weight loss program for the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota, integrating endoscopic, medical, and surgical options under one roof. He works closely with the practice's bariatric surgeons and medical weight management team to match each patient's history and goals with the therapy best suited to them. He also specializes in treating weight regain and bariatric complications - including dumping syndrome - following prior bariatric surgeries and procedures, offering Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORe) for patients who have had gastric bypass, and revision ESG for patients with a prior sleeve gastrectomy or ESG. Dr. Leung is committed to patient education and walking each person through the full range of options so they can choose the path that fits their goals and lifestyle.

Dr. Leung also has interests in innovative treatments for GERD, early luminal GI cancers, and diagnostic and therapeutic EUS and ERCP.

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
