Bariatric Surgery

Revisional operations are typically reserved for patients who have either regained significant weight after their original operation for weight loss or those who have sustained complications as a result of their original weight loss procedure. Below are just a few scenarios where revisional procedures may be indicated:

  • Patients who suffer from significant gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) after sleeve gastrectomy
  • Patient with refractory marginal ulcers after gastric bypass surgery
  • Patients who have developed an abnormal connection between their stomach pouch and their remnant stomach after gastric bypass (repair of gastrogastric fistula)
  • Patients who have had gradual stretching of their sleeve, stomach pouch, or gastric outlet and no longer have good restriction (feeling of fullness) after smaller meals
  • Patients with prior adjustable gastric bands which have slipped, eroded, or are causing significant reflux necessitating a more effective weight loss operation

There are many reasons a revisional operation may need to be performed. If you have had prior surgery and are interested in learning more about revisional bariatric options, please call us to schedule an initial consultation with one of our weight loss providers.
